About me:

Alicja Morawska Rubczak – Ph.D. student, in her studies at the Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznan, Faculty of Polish and Classical Philology, she works on the postdramatic theory in children’s theatre in the Baltic states; she is also a young researcher and a critic, starting her career as a theatre curator. From September 2011 exchange student at The University of Copenhagen (studies on contemporary dance theory).

She graduated from cultural studies and the AMU Faculty of Polish Philology and has improved her education during one-year scholarship (MOST programme) in the Institute of Polish Literature of the Nicolaus Copernicus University of Torun, attending theatrology course. She is a laureate of the Kulczyk Family Foundation scholarship, a winner of the scholarship of the Polish Ministry of Science and Higher Education for extraordinary scientific achievements and the Polish Ministry of Culture and National Heritage for achievements in theatre research, and additionally a beneficiary of the Adam Mickiewicz Institute Programme “Polish Culture Around the World”.

Alicja is a researcher and a great enthusiast of children’s theatre (especially for the very young), contemporary plays for children and youth as well as of puppet theatre. Her works were published in the most important Polish theatre magazines – among others ”Teatr Lalek”, ”Didaskalia”, ”Dialog”, ”Teatr” and ”Scena”. In addition, she cooperates with Zbigniew Raszewski Theatre Institute as the editor of Nowa Siła Krytyczna project (New Critical Force) for young critics. She is the first researcher of the Polish theatre for the very young. She has given speeches at numerous Polish and international conferences on art for children, puppet theatre and contemporary theatre theory, and was an organiser of more than ten conferences concentrated on children’s art problems. She is the vice-chairman of the Literary Aesthetics’ Scientific Association and during her studies has cooperated with the Scientific Circle of Theatrology at the Nicolaus Copernicus Univeristy of Torun and with two sections of the Culture Scientists’ Circle at AMU.

She cooperates with leading children’s, theatre and culture institutions in Poland, like the Art Stations Foundation, the Children’s Art Centre, the Zbigniew Raszewski Theatre Institute and the Adam Mickiewicz Institute. She is a curator or programmer of big theatre projects for children: the Little Warsaw Theatre Meetings, the International Festival of Contemporary Drama for Children and Youth KON-TEKSTY and the Stary Browar New Dance for Children project and is an initiator and a coordinator of the 1st Polish Children’s Theatre Showcase. She is concentrated on promoting Polish children’s theatre abroad and was invited to many important festivals, e.g. in Japan, Denmark, Italy and Slovakia also as a member of jury (on the King Festival in Russia and the International Children’s Theatre Festival100,1000,1 000 000 Stories” in Romania) . Furthermore, she works on exchanging ideas and artists between Poland and other European countries and cooperates with a few institutions abroad. Apart from the Polish children’s theatre, she is especially interested in the Danish children’s theatre, which is world-wide considered as the most interesting children’s theatre of the best quality. From this year she is a member of ITYARN, the International Theatre for Young Audiences Research Network.

She has implemented many projects focused on theatre education, connected especially with the new drama for children and young people.
